Bitter, Better or Both?

Bitterness? Bad. Betterness? Beneficial. Don't look back or you'll turn into a pillar of salt, (bitter). Don't look back in anger anyway. Make fun not theology.

i had never heard this before, but according to royston pike those were russell's last words.

can anyone verify this, or show where this story comes from?

On the train trip back from California Russell is supposed to have asked for a toga. His personal secretary was Menta Sturgeon. He is the only one who was there to relate this event. I asked a visiting speaker from Bethell, one of the Kurzen brothers, if this was true. He said, "the old timers at Bethel say that Sturgeon was one of those creature worshipers who left after Russell died and a liar that made that up!". Thus began the lying and denial. The WT of 12/1/16 is a memorial issue to Russell and contains the story. my friend told me today that she had passed on to her friend my story bout being a jw and how now i dont have any support since leaving the borg mainly coz im marrying a "worldy" person and how my parents dont really have alot to do with me now.

anyway jw's came to this ladies door this week and she plainly stated that she is not interested but they kept hounding and so she said im not interested in a religion that can shun family members for not marrying in your religion, or not believing in the same thing, thats not what a loving god does.

so these jw said "oh you must have the wrong religion we dont do those things"!!!

Could we be right, and they be right too?

is it possible that just about everything we say about the jw's on this forum is true, but on the other hand they would be the only true religion that god approves, even though they are imperfect and make errors?

We were taught that God has an exclusive people. It gave our life meaning. Out of the org. we have to find our own meaning. This is the truth. Jehovah's Witnesses is a religion of the dependent. That is the TRUTH. Becoming adrift makes one yearn for the saftey of the collective. Now the only collective is benevolent fellow flotsam we meet on the way and accept as our friends and family. If you still pray and feel a response, and I do now and then, it is likely you will equate that with the "safe" feeling in the "lifeboat" organization. I don't plan on saving the "Titanic" we are on out here in the nonwitness environs, I'm just going to realize its not the "Titanic" as they said, its our home.

"I guess alone in this case thought means I don't feel like I belong anywhere, so that's what I mean, I don't "belong" with regular people because they don't get it...and I don't belong with Dubs for obvious reasons...which I know we all "belong" here, but the real world is tricky."

Its the old syndrome, not good enough to be in the truth, not bad enough to be out of it. The fact is, like everyone else in the Truth or out, you are both.

Find a good friend and listen to them. Better yet, let them listen to you.

If you approach everything in the same spirit as your avatar I can see how you might alienate others. You're normal, just you wait and see!

i'm confused, i feel hypocritical.

first let me get this clear, i'm not a religious person, but i believe someone or something started the big bang and chain of events that created our universe.

i believe in evolution.

There's a great quote from a character in the remake of the old film Flight of The Phoenix. The guy tells the captain who's opposed to using thier time and water in efforts to rebuild their plane:

"People need to have someone to love, if they dont have someone to love they need hope, if they dont have hope at least give them something to keep busy." (something close to that)

We all find our way, you will too. If you feel hypocritical think about why you feel this way. Only you can know why. If you are being maliscious, then shame on you. If you are just being young and figuring out what is the most acceptable crowd to your personal standards, then great. Its playtime right now. Love will make itself known to you in time. If you dont find that then get busy. Be careful with your heart (figurative one) and your body.Not everyone will be honest with you ya know.
